the goal of the project is to make a comic, and then a stop-motion video, to help children who cannot live with their biological parents and live in shelter houses. we want to show all the people in our community that they can become foster families and support these children with their needs. We are doing the project with an ngo called 'crecer con futuro'. all our students from paul ward and teen english are taking part in it!
Our project is devoted to reading the favourite books of our students. Each kid challenged their friends to read any of their 'must-read' book! the students had a lot of fun and then they shared their opinions about the books! it was a real joy for them! We challenge you to read more!
Good books are true friends
In the beginning, helen doron teachers prepared lessons, which are devoted to the books. the students had a lot of fun. They offered to share their books with kids who need them more. for several weeks, the children brought their books to the centre. then, teachers and some kids took the books to the orphanage. The children of the orphanage were overjoyed and looked at the books with sparkles in their eyes. it was a real holiday for them! Unfortunately, we're not able to film their faces, as this was against policy of this charity foundation.
The Wonders of Reading
Our team got so excited that we created a "3 in 1" project. We inspired the youngest students to recreate favourite book covers and held a competition. The winners were awarded with books of course! Then we created a magical sleepover party where everyone could turn into their favourite book character. We united our Powers and went on the Fairytale Quest Adventure. Also, our team established a wonder box in our LC. Everyone could bring books for donation. We created a celebration with storytelling, songs and reading, where we presented the books to 20 children in need. Wonders of Reading!
The power of the word
The aim of our project is to encourage our children's creativity, to develop their talents of writing stories and poems, and to express themselves in painting pictures matching the literary works of their favourite writers. We collected a lot of our student's work and published a book. Every day we see more and more people reading our book, which consists of real masterpieces and we are proud that our small artists and authors have helped other people to love reading. We are sure that the future lies in these talented children!
my first story
Bosnia and Herzegovina
we organised special activities in the library of the Historical Museum of BiH over 6 days: we showed that books and literature are vital elements of one's childhood and personal growth. As a result of the children's hard work, we published a book entitled „My First Story“ which compiles all the children's stories and drawings that were created during this project. We also donated books to Children's Home Without Parental Care Bjelave and ensured that all the profit from the book's sale goes to the Museum where this wonderful journey began.
Hospital Reading corner
Helen doron zadar
We all know that hospitals are not the prettiest or the happiest places out there, especially when you are a child. So the main goal of our project was to build a small reading corner in the waiting room of the children’s ward @ our town hospital. However, since our students & their friends & Family donated a total of 466 books, our little corner turned into a real hospital library! We are proud beyond words!
Alice at the edge of miracle
Our project is aimed at interesting children's in literature. Our goal is to show the children an interesting book world. When we read, we find ourselves in a new reality, we learn to think about the plot. Our quest attracted children to reading books, interesting assignments made us think, competitions for the best smile of the Cheshire Cat - have fun.
Readers are Leaders
play and smile
Readers are leaders
Read. Inspire. Install.
According to the competition, we decided to introduce the bookcrossing culture in our school. The children of the 5th grade made all the preparations by themselves: the bookshelf, picking up the books and ... the Installation! The crucial point of our masterpiece is to show that only reading people become real.
Reading to the Elderly
We read to those who cannot read anymore. We decided to take children to homes for elderly people. Older children from our team read the book "Room on the Broom" by Julia Donaldson. The little ones acted out the story as a theatre performance.
