Helen Doron Early English works on the mother tongue principle: a baby begins learning her mother tongue the day she is born (or even earlier).
At first, the baby hears words but does not understand them. Gradually, the baby's parents help her grasp the meaning of the sounds that she has already absorbed and they reinforce this by hugging and kissing her every time she says a word or shows understanding.
Helen Doron Early English mimics this natural process, teaching English just as a child learns her mother tongue. For this, Helen Doron has spent years developing special materials. Children hear the Helen Doron Early English audiocassettes / CDs over and over again without paying active attention to them or trying to understand them. After a while, the child becomes very familiar and at home with the sounds, words and sentence structures of the language.
The next stage is to teach the infant or child the meaning of the sounds already absorbed and so familiar to him. This is done when the child meets with her trained Helen Doron teacher in a group of 4 - 8 children. She learns through specific games, activities and songs the meaning of the sounds she has already internalized.
Older children combine this with learning reading and writing skills.
